On Saturday, September 30th at 6:30pm in Asbury Hall, Charl will give a multi-media presentation of his journey.  Charl is a United Methodist from South Texas, where he set sail from Palacios in 2004.   He grew up in South Africa, where he lost his hearing resulting from a childhood accident.  See his website at www.silentvoyager.com .<\/p>\n<p>Also, there will be a special guest, George P. Bush, nephew of the President.  He will talk about the Americans with Disability Act, which was first drafted in the United Methodist Building in Washington, D.C. and signed into law by his grandfather, George Herbert Walker Bush.  Testimonies from our 2005 academic scholarship recipient, Cayla Coleman, and Deaf teens who participated in the 2006 Rio Bravo Mexico Deaf Mission will also be shared.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a silent auction on items ranging from jewlery to restaurant gift certificates.   Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for children.   Proceeds to benefit Deaf teen missions and educational scholarships.
