With<br \/>\nthe organizational support and fiscal sponsorship of the California<br \/>\nAssociation of the Deaf, DBC has been able to establish itself on a<br \/>\nnational level as an advocate for Deaf babies\u2019 and children\u2019s<br \/>\nrights to American Sign Language from the start. <\/p>\n<p>Accomplishments 2008: <\/p>\n<p>Established a website www.dbcusa.org <\/p>\n<p>DBC CA led an ASL Rally in Milpitas, CA, March 2008 <\/p>\n<p>Booths at ASL Expos in CA and Minn. <\/p>\n<p>Participated in the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention<br \/>\nConference, March 2008 <\/p>\n<p>Participated in the CAL-ED Conference in March 2008 <\/p>\n<p>Held its first biennial DBC Education Conference in Milwaukee WI,<br \/>\nJune 2008. Seven hundred <\/p>\n<p>people registered. Conference was booked to its maximum occupancy<br \/>\nwith more than 700 <\/p>\n<p>people. Several hundred more showed up to participate in the ASL<br \/>\nrallies. <\/p>\n<p>Established relationships with NAD, ASDC, CEASD, CAEBER and Gallaudet<br \/>\nand established <\/p>\n<p>an on-going Roundtable at Gallaudet University. Oct. 2008. Working to<br \/>\nestablish a Deaf <\/p>\n<p>Mentor Training Program and high quality materials and literature on<br \/>\nASL for early intervention <\/p>\n<p>programs, the medical society, and family resources. <\/p>\n<p>DBC IN led an ASL Rally at Ft. The Deaf<br \/>\nBilingual Coalition will work to inform parents of Deaf children,<br \/>\nguardians, teachers of the Deaf, doctors, audiologists, government<br \/>\nofficials, businesses, and other organizations on the importance of<br \/>\nASL in early language acquisition for all Deaf infants and young Deaf<br \/>\nchildren. DBC will work to spread awareness of the research that shows<br \/>\nthat ASL does make significant contribution to the development of<br \/>\nliteracy skills in both languages, ASL and English.
