Presenter: Ms. Jackie Bruce, MA, Texas BEI Level IV, NAD\/RID
\nCertified <\/p>\n
Jackie Bruce has been involved in the profession of interpreting for
\nthe past twenty-five years. She presently holds interpreting
\ncertificates and\/or licenses from Registry of Interpreters for the
\nDeaf, Inc. (RID), National Association of the Deaf (NAD), and the
\nState of Texas and Alabama. <\/p>\n
She obtained her Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Deaf Education from Texas
\nChristian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Ms. Bruce went on to
\nachieve a Master of Arts Degree in Sign Language Interpretation at
\nGallaudet University in Washington, DC. She has completed doctoral
\nwork at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and does hold ABD status. <\/p>\n
Ms. Bruce, a former president of the National Alliance of Black Sign
\nLanguage Interpreters, Inc. (NAOBI), has previously served as a member
\nof the National Multicultural Interpreting project in El Paso, Texas
\nand the Alabama Licensure Committee for Sign Language Interpreters. <\/p>\n
Ms. Bruce is a community and video relay\/video remote interpreter,
\nmentor, religious interpreter, consultant, presenter, and educator. <\/p>\n
Ms. Bruce is the owner of CJAGA Sign Language Interpreter Service,
\nLLC located in Washington, DC. <\/p>\n
TARGET AUDIENCE: Advanced interpreting students and professional
\ninterpreters <\/p>\n
COURSE OUTLINE: The workshop will provide participants with the
\nimportance of knowing parameters. Upon identifying the parameters of
\nASL and basic sentence types, participants will be able to improve
\ntheir clarity of sign production. Participants will be able to analyze
\ntheir own work. <\/p>\n
