{"id":5264,"date":"2009-01-28T10:44:06","date_gmt":"2009-01-28T05:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=5264"},"modified":"2009-01-28T02:36:16","modified_gmt":"2009-01-28T07:36:16","slug":"call-for-entries-artwork-for-2009-ndeam-poster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2009\/01\/28\/call-for-entries-artwork-for-2009-ndeam-poster\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Entries: Artwork for 2009 NDEAM Poster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Disability Employment Awareness Month<\/p>\n<p>Texas Poster Art <\/p>\n<p>CALL FOR ENTRIES<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility and Media:<\/p>\n<p>Each year in October, in recognition of National Disability<br \/>\nEmployment Awareness Month, the State of Texas and the Texas<br \/>\nGovernor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities take the<br \/>\nopportunity to recognize an outstanding artist with a disability who<br \/>\nresides in the State of Texas. The person who is chosen as the<br \/>\nfeatured artist will have his or her work prominently incorporated<br \/>\ninto the Texas NDEAM poster, which is distributed to businesses<br \/>\nthroughout the state, and will be a featured guest at the Texas Annual<br \/>\nEmployment Awards Ceremony. In addition, the featured artist\u2019s piece<br \/>\n(the original as well as the poster which features the art) will be on<br \/>\ndisplay in the office of the Texas Governor\u2019s Committee on People<br \/>\nwith Disabilities, and will occasionally be incorporated into other<br \/>\nart exhibits sponsored by the State of Texas. The winning submission<br \/>\nbecomes the permanent property of the Texas Governor\u2019s Committee on<br \/>\nPeople with Disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Original 2D and 3D art in all media are eligible. The Texas<br \/>\nGovernor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities will have the final<br \/>\nauthority to define what constitutes an acceptable entry. There is no<br \/>\nentry fee, but all submissions must be accompanied by the formal<br \/>\nsubmission form.<\/p>\n<p>Entries:<\/p>\n<p>Each artist should submit an entry in the form of a digital image on<br \/>\nCD (jpeg file), OR as a high-resolution photograph of the artwork, OR<br \/>\nas an attachment to an email to the address below. All entries must be<br \/>\naccompanied by the required entry form completed in full. (see below)<br \/>\nThe postmark deadline for entries is March 14, 2009. The winner of the 2009 Texas NDEAM Poster Art contest will be<br \/>\nnotified by email or phone by April 3, 2009. Other entries will be<br \/>\nnotified by email, postal mail, or phone by April 10, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Terms:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The winner of the 2009 Texas NDEAM Poster Art contest will donate<br \/>\nhis or her original artwork to the Texas Governor\u2019s Committee on<br \/>\nPeople with Disabilities. The winner will complete and submit the<br \/>\nappropriate paperwork designating the artwork as a gift to the State<br \/>\nof Texas.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 There will be no monetary compensation for the art. However, the<br \/>\noriginal art will be reproduced for use in the 2009 Texas NDEAM Poster<br \/>\nwith a prominent acknowledgment of the artist. The poster is sent to<br \/>\nmore than 2,000 businesses in Texas, and both the original artwork and<br \/>\nthe poster will be on display in the office of the Texas Governor\u2019s<br \/>\nCommittee on People with Disabilities, and will occasionally be<br \/>\nincorporated into art exhibits sponsored by the State of Texas.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The winning artist will be acknowledged at and invited to the<br \/>\n2008-09 Texas Annual Employment Awards Ceremony. This year\u2019s<br \/>\nCeremony will be held on October 9, 2009 in Beaumont, Texas. The<br \/>\nartist will also be acknowledged in a statewide press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Copies of the poster with the featured art and artist recognition<br \/>\nwill be distributed statewide to increase awareness of disability<br \/>\nissues as well as appreciation of artists with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 An entry to this contest constitutes full agreement on the part<br \/>\nof the artist to all conditions outlined in the Call for Entries,<br \/>\nincluding donation of the artwork to the State.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Texas Governor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities will<br \/>\nhave final authority to define what constitutes an acceptable entry.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The winning artist grants the State of Texas permission to<br \/>\nreproduce his or her artwork for non-profit distribution of the 2009<br \/>\nTexas NDEAM poster.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Only Texas artists with disabilities are allowed to submit<br \/>\nentries.
