Human Chain Rally at the Capitol at Austin, Texas<\/p>\n
Sunday October 8th at 1 p.m. <\/p>\n
This Rally is in response to the social injustice happening at Gallaudet University, the world\u2019s only liberal arts university for the Deaf in Washington D.C. <\/p>\n
Goal of Rally Support for the Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni\u2019s efforts for social justice at Gallaudet University <\/p>\n
We believe\u2026
\nThe presidential search for Gallaudet\u2019s 9th president was flawed.
\nThis search process and the end result has created and is creating divisions and a hostile environment at Gallaudet.
\nJane Fernandes, the president-select of Gallaudet, is unable to unite and lead Gallaudet. She is an unacceptable choice. <\/p>\n
We support\u2026
\nThe FSSA\u2019s demands for the Board of Trustees at Gallaudet:
\n1) Re-open the search process for a president who is fairly chosen, well qualified, well \trespected and able to best lead our diverse deaf community to the next level.
\n2) Give assurance that there will be no reprisals for anyone involved in the protest. <\/p>\n

\nProminent leaders of the Austin Deaf Community Human Chain – Participants of the rally will join hands and form a circle to symbolize: <\/p>\n
The unity, inclusiveness and mutual collaboration that needs to happen for social justice at Gallaudet. <\/p>\n
