National Writing Contest for High School Students with Hearing Loss<\/p>\n
(Rochester, N.Y.) – High school students with hearing loss in 10th or
\n11th grade can use the power of words to express their feelings and
\nwin prizes in the fourth annual Rochester Institute of Technology
\nSpiRIT Writing Contest.<\/p>\n
Winners will have their choice of a $500 cash prize, or a scholarship
\nand travel expenses to the Explore Your Future program at RIT\u2019s
\nNational Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). EYF is a six-day
\nsummer career exploration program for deaf and hard-of-hearing
\nstudents that gives them the opportunity to sample different careers
\nas well as college life.<\/p>\n
Entries will include creative writing such as a short story or poem,
\na short writing sample and a personal reflection.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s winners were Laruen Aggen, of Algonquin, Ill., and
\nJaimie Sloan, of Merkel, Texas.<\/p>\n
