Pat Green Honored for His Contribution to Texas School for the Deaf\u2019s Golf Program<\/p>\n
PAT GREEN AND THE AUSTIN SERTOMA CLUB ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHOOL\u2019S
\nFIRST GOLF PROGRAM SINCE 1991<\/p>\n
Austin, Texas FEBRUARY 6, 2009 Singer\/songwriter Pat Green not only
\ntouches people all over the world with his music, he is changing the
\nlives of deaf and hard of hearing children right here in Texas.<\/p>\n
Green\u2019s keyboardist, Clayton Ryder Corn \u2013 who also happens to be
\na member of the Austin Sertoma Club – mentioned that the club was
\nundertaking a project to start a golf program at the Texas School for
\nthe Deaf (TSD). Because of his own passion for the sport of golf,
\nGreen, and long-time friend Tom Kelly, jumped in to join the crusade.
\nWhile Austin Sertoman\u2019s worked to raise money to install a complete
\npractice green on the school\u2019s campus, Green and Kelly surprised TSD
\nwith complete sets of new golf equipment for the students.<\/p>\n
Today at noon, TSD honors the Austin Sertoma Club, Pat Green and Tom
\nKelly during a dedication ceremony of the new Ranger golf program.<\/p>\n
While busy promoting his new album, Green still tries to find time to
\nunwind on the golf course as often as he can. A competitor at heart,
\nGreen himself won the BMW Pro Am two years ago and hopes to make a
\nsimilar showing later this month when he competes at the Pro Am in
\nPebble Beach.<\/p>\n
Because of the kindness and generosity of the Austin Sertoma Club,
\nPat Green and Tom Kelly, students at TSD are now getting exposure to a
\nsport they have not had the opportunity to experience in almost twenty
\nyears. The school is now on target to have a competitive golf team in
\n2009-2010.<\/p>\n
With a strong belief in culture and community at the Texas School for
\nthe Deaf, students form a unique identity based on their individual
\nstrengths and talents. At TSD, students learn, grow, and belong. For
