Construction begins Monday on the Visitor Center parking lot,
\nsidewalk and surrounding trail at the Fort Worth Nature Center’s
\nHardwicke Interpretive Center. During this time, the Hardwicke
\nInterpretive Center (main Visitor Center) and Fossil Ridge Road will
\nbe closed.<\/p>\n
Construction is tentatively scheduled to be completed by May 31.<\/p>\n
The parking lot, sidewalk and trail improvements are part of the 2004
\nCapital Improvement Bond Program. The parking lot will be constructed
\nof environmentally friendly permeable surface materials, using
\nbioswales for water runoff. The sidewalk and trail improvements
\nsurrounding the Hardwicke Interpretive Center will bring the visitor
\ncenter in line with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities
\nAct.<\/p>\n
Visitors are required to stop by the main gatehouse prior to entering
\nthe park. Staff will be available to assist visitors with general
\ninformation about the park, suggested locations for hiking, and
\nmeeting locations for scheduled programs.<\/p>\n
The Refuge Service Center will be the temporary welcome center for
\nall visitors.<\/p>\n
Trails and other amenities will remain open as usual.<\/p>\n
