BEI Advisory Board Vacancy<\/p>\n
The Department of Assistive and Rehabilitation Services (DARS),
\nOffice for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) is seeking
\nqualified applicants to fill an unexpired term for the Board for
\nEvaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Advisory Board. After fulfilling the
\nremainder of the term to expire the applicant may be eligible to serve
\na full three-year term.<\/p>\n
A qualified applicant must:<\/p>\n
* Be a Texas resident;<\/p>\n
* Hold a valid BEI Level III, IV, V, Advanced or Master certification
\nand preferably with a minimum of 10 years of interpreting experience;<\/p>\n
* Possess a Bachelors degree (preferred);<\/p>\n
* Demonstrate knowledge of linguistics, sign language theory and
\ninterpreting.<\/p>\n
Appointed members are expected to advise DARS-DHHS concerning the BEI
\ncertification program, attend regularly scheduled Board meetings,
\nattend BEI rater training sessions, participate in and provide
\nprescribed training to BEI raters, participate in panel discussions
\nduring conferences, and assist with test development initiatives.
\nMeetings are held on an as needed basis or possibly every two months.
\nThe DHHS reimburses travel expenses for trainings and board meetings.<\/p>\n
