Dear friends and family,<\/p>\n
We are writing to you with some very exciting news. Our son, Joshua
\nHill, has been nominated and accepted to participate in the
\nPeople-to-People Student Ambassadors program. This program was
\nestablished 53 years ago, in 1956, by former President Dwight
\nEisenhower. The program sends students from different parts of the
\nworld to study together. He believed this was a way for them to learn
\nto live together in peace.<\/p>\n
Josh’s group will be going to France, Italy, and Greece where they
\nwill have special tour access. He will travel for 20 days, visiting
\nand studying the most famous landmarks and art treasures of Europe.
\nJosh will meet with kids from other countries, experiencing new
\nsights, sounds, tastes, and cultures.<\/p>\n
Joshua is an eighth grade student in the gifted program at Spence
\nMiddle school in Dallas, Texas. He is first chair trumpet in band. He
\nhas done volunteer work at Woodrow Wilson high school as an assistant
\nsign language interpreter for wrestling, and the freshman, junior
\nvarsity and varsity football programs. He was also a sideline
\nassistant for the varsity football team in 2008. Josh also volunteers
\nin a community gardening program that provides fresh organic produce
\nto food pantry programs. He is active in his Sunday School group at
\nUnity Church of Dallas.. His hobbies are basketball and playing the
\nelectric bass guitar.<\/p>\n
We are raising $8,500 to pay for Joshua’s program travel expenses,
\nitems to enrich his experience, and some spending money.<\/p>\n
We are asking people to help us raise the money by sending us
\ncontributions and letting us know if you know of individuals,
\nbusinesses, or organizations in your area that would donate money to
\nJoshua’s worthy cause.<\/p>\n
We need donations as soon as possible, because we have to make
\npayments in installments and the full amount is due May 1, 2009.<\/p>\n
We are asking for donations of $75 and up.<\/p>\n
Thanks for everything you will do to help us make Joshua’s dream come
\ntrue. We know he will be a great ambassador for the family, his
\ncommunity, America, and world peace.<\/p>\n
