\nrecruiting for the following positions: (Austin, Texas)<\/p>\n
Deaf Services Advocate\/Educator<\/p>\n
The Deaf Services Advocate\/Educator serves as a resource
\nperson\/caseworker to clients who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or
\nDeaf\/blind requesting services from SafePlace to help with their
\nimmediate safety needs; conducting targeted outreach to raise
\nawareness about SafePlace services within the Deaf community, and
\nproviding training\/education on topics related domestic\/sexual
\nviolence against persons who are Deaf. This position is expected to
\nwork collaboratively with the Deaf Services team to achieve program
\ngoals. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Social Work, Counseling or
\nrelated field and 3-4 years relevant experience; fluency in American
\nSign Language and life experience or knowledge of Deaf culture;
\nexperience in planning and conducting trainings\/presentations;
\nknowledge of the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence; knowledge
\nof social service, social welfare, mental health, and criminal justice
\nagencies as well as entities that specifically serve individuals who
\nare Deaf in the Austin area.<\/p>\n
