March 30, 2009 ? Detroit, Michigan ? OIC Movies announces the launch
\nof www.oicmovies.com an online channel for news, entertainment and
\ninformation exclusively in American Sign Language (ASL).<\/p>\n
The website is designed for use by the Deaf and hard of hearing
\ncommunities, where ASL is their native language. The site features ASL
\ncontent curated and organized by sign language professionals, pop-up
\nvideo explanations in ASL on how to navigate the website, and Deaf
\non-camera talent.<\/p>\n
In addition to curated content, original videos are produced by the
\nOIC Movies team on Deaf culture and a variety of other topics not
\ncurrently available anywhere else in America Sign Language.<\/p>\n
OIC Movies reporter Mary Luczki has always wanted to deliver news and
\ninformation in her first language, America Sign Language (ASL) but
\nuntil now was limited by technology. ?This has been a life-long dream
\nof mine. Twenty years ago all we had to work with was VHS tape. I?m
\nvery excited about this business.?<\/p>\n
OIC Movies will be sponsoring the Deaf Teen America Pageant at the
\nEmerald Theater in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on April 10th and 11th. The
\nOIC story booth will be on-site to record participants and attendee
\nstories for broadcast on oicmovies.com.<\/p>\n
The vision of OIC Movies is to provide the best available resource
\nfor news, information and entertainment in American Sign Language. We
\ndo this by producing original programming in ASL and organizing
\navailable ASL content from the web.<\/p>\n
