The result is a flat, rather
two-dimensional interpretation missing the depth and texture of the
original message. One approach to building a more linguistically
accurate as well as dimensionally appropriate interpretation is to
include the techniques of role play and direct discourse. This
six-hour workshop is designed to introduce these two interpreting
techniques, provide activities demonstrating how the techniques are
used, and provide opportunities for independent practice and
implementation of these techniques. Participants will work in small
groups, pairs, and individually working with both printed and audio
text that will allow experimentation with role play and direct
discourse. Participants will be able to ask questions and gain
feedback from presenters and fellow participants in a safe
environment, and will learn principles that will help them apply what
they learn in this workshop to their work.

Registration for May 2 Workshop – “A Picture’s Worth a Thousand
Words: The Art of Role Play in Interpreting”

Name_________________________________________________

Address________________________________________________

______________________________________________________

Email:_________________________________________________

Phone:_________________________________________________

Cost:
$25.00 pre registration
$30.00 at the door

Make checks payable to “NCTRID”

Send to:
NCTRID
c/o Windy Rossi
3608 Wise Lane,
Flower Mound 75022

If you will need an interpreter please let us know by April 17, 2009.
Please email me at lisa.miller@tccd.edu Thanks.

Lisa Miller
Email: lisa.miller@tccd.edu
Phone : 817-515-7784

Workshop Opportunity DATE: May 2, 2009 TIME: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm ADDRESS: 4801 Marine Creek Pkwy Fort Worth, Texas Workshop presenters will be Alaina Webb and Kelly Bothel “A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words: The Art of Role Play…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[2

post-6099","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-deaf-news
Hand In Hand Presents: The Art of Interpreting Phone Conversations: Miscue Analysis Presented by: Suzanne Terrio and Helene Gilbert Saturday, January 27, 2007 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (One hour lunch break on your own) SPONSORED BY: Disability Support Services Texas Woman’s University –ROOM #CFO 103 304 Administration Denton, Texas…
https://deafnetwork.com/wordpress/blog/2006/10/11/how-do-i-know-when-im-really-interpreting-workshop-dfw/
How Do I Know When I’m REALLY Interpreting?
