THE MEDICAID BUY – IN PROGRAM OFFERS AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE COVERAGE TO
\nPEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WHO WORK AND EARN A PAYCHECK <\/p>\n

This program is for people with disabilities who want to go back to
\nwork or keep working but are worried about losing their Medicaid
\ncoverage if their income level is too high. They might be able to
\n\u201cbuy in\u201d to Medicaid coverage by paying a monthly premium.<\/p>\n

This buy-in program offers the same services that others get through
\nMedicaid. These include:<\/p>\n

Office visits<\/p>\n

Hospital stays<\/p>\n

X-rays<\/p>\n

Vision services<\/p>\n

Hearing services<\/p>\n

Prescriptions<\/p>\n

Who should apply? To get into the Medicaid Buy-In program, a person
\nmust:<\/p>\n

Meet the disability requirements of the Social Security
\nAdministration.<\/p>\n

Be employed or self employed, either part-time or full-time.<\/p>\n

Earn enough money for a Social Security qualifying quarter (3-month
\nperiod ending each<\/p>\n

March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31). Income limits
\nchange each year.<\/p>\n

How to apply:<\/p>\n

Call 2-1-1.<\/p>\n

Visit your local HHSC benefits office.<\/p>\n

Visit www.YourTexasBenefits.com. Click on “Request an application.”
\nThen choose the Integrated <\/p>\n

Application. On the application, check the box for “Medicaid for the
\nElderly and People with Disabilities.” Write “MBI” at the top of the
\napplication.<\/p>\n
