Assist the teacher in reverse interpreting<br \/>\ncomments, questions, or responses by these students. Work under the<br \/>\nsupervision of a teacher\/team leader\/ supervisor certified in<br \/>\neducation of the deaf and\/or hard of hearing.<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n<p>Education\/Certification:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 High school diploma or equivalent<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Licensed by the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters under the<br \/>\nauspices of the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or<br \/>\nby the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf<\/p>\n<p>Special Knowledge\/Skills:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to work well with children<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to interpret in or willingness to learn SEE 2 sign system<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knowledge of general office equipment<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Willingness to execute written employment contract with Plano ISD<\/p>\n<p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and<br \/>\nstate and local board policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assist the student in interpreting and\/or reversing lectures,<br \/>\nquestions\/answers, discussions, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Work with individual students or small groups to communicate in<br \/>\nthe classroom and to complete assignments as assigned by the lead<br \/>\ninterpreter or team leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both<br \/>\ninside and outside the classroom as assigned by the lead interpreter<br \/>\nor team leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of<br \/>\nindividual students if deemed necessary by the lead interpreter or<br \/>\nteam leader.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Participate in staff development training programs, faculty<br \/>\nmeetings, and special events, as needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and<br \/>\nfollow directives from superiors.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Perform other functions that may be assigned by the<br \/>\nAdministration and\/or supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>EQUIPMENT USED:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Uses copier, typewriter, computer, laminator, TDD or Texas Relay,<br \/>\nand audiovisual equipment including captioning equipment<\/p>\n<p>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/p>\n<p>Mental Demands:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written);<br \/>\ninterpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions;<br \/>\nmaintain emotional control under stress.<\/p>\n<p>Physical Demands\/Environmental Factors:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged<br \/>\nand irregular hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and<br \/>\npulling.
