{"id":6192,"date":"2009-04-17T16:54:45","date_gmt":"2009-04-17T11:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=6192"},"modified":"2009-04-17T07:54:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-17T12:54:00","slug":"trilingual-interpreter-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2009\/04\/17\/trilingual-interpreter-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Trilingual Interpreter Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services<\/p>\n<p>OFFICE FOR DEAF &#038; HARD OF HEARING SERVICES<\/p>\n<p>presents<\/p>\n<p>Trilingual Interpreter Training<\/p>\n<p>This training, May 31-June 5, 2009, will focus on intensive<\/p>\n<p>sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign trilingual interpreting and will<br \/>\nprovide<\/p>\n<p>an environment in which participants can stretch their interpreting<\/p>\n<p>horizons and explore new approaches in this specialty area. A highly<\/p>\n<p>qualified staff will conduct the training and will include expert<\/p>\n<p>trainers in Spanish interpreting and trilingual interpreting.<br \/>\nTrilingual<\/p>\n<p>instructors include Gina Gonzalez and Carmen Garcia. Spanish to<br \/>\nEnglish<\/p>\n<p>instructors include Adriana Guevara and Jorge Dieppa.<\/p>\n<p>Having current Texas BEI, RID\/NIC, or NAD certification is<br \/>\nrecommended.<\/p>\n<p>BEI and RID CEUs will be offered. All participants will be screened<br \/>\nfor<\/p>\n<p>knowledge of Spanish and those without interpreter certification will<br \/>\nbe<\/p>\n<p>screened for interpreting skills. DHHS staff will contact potential<\/p>\n<p>participants as soon as registration is received to schedule<br \/>\nscreening.<\/p>\n<p>Call Yolanda Chavira at 512-407-3250 if you have questions.<\/p>\n<p>This training is limited to 40 participants and pre-registration is<\/p>\n<p>required. Potential participants should arrive at the Southwest<\/p>\n<p>Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID), 3200 Avenue C, Big Spring,<\/p>\n<p>Texas on Sunday, May 31, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. after which dinner<\/p>\n<p>will be served. Introductions and an orientation session will follow.<\/p>\n<p>The training sessions will be held June 1-5 from 8 a.m. &#8211; 5 p.m.<br \/>\ndaily.<\/p>\n<p>Big Spring can be reached via the Midland-Odessa Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Airport-to-campus transportation is available for a reasonable fee.<br \/>\nThe<\/p>\n<p>cost for the training is $250, this includes room and meals will be<\/p>\n<p>provided by SWCID.<\/p>\n<p>Only individuals who can participate for the entire week will be<\/p>\n<p>considered for this intensive training. Participants are expected to<br \/>\nbe<\/p>\n<p>on time for all sessions and commit to giving 100% of their time and<\/p>\n<p>energy to this activity.
