The sessions will provide an environment in<br \/>\nwhich participants can stretch their interpreting horizons and explore<br \/>\nnew approaches in this specialty area. A highly qualified staff will<br \/>\nconduct the training and will include expert trainers in deaf<br \/>\ninterpreting: Byron Bridges, Eileen Forestal, Trenton Marsh, Gino<br \/>\nGouby, and Ann Horn. Areas of focus will include professional roles<br \/>\nand responsibilities, common business practices, laws and regulations<br \/>\nregarding interpreting services, negotiating communication needs,<br \/>\nself-assessment of interpreting performances, role and scope of<br \/>\nservice, dealing with testing anxieties, and more.<\/p>\n<p>This training is free and is limited to 40 participants;<br \/>\npre-registration is required. There is a room and board fee of $175 to<br \/>\nstay on campus for the week. Participants should arrive on the<br \/>\nSouthwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID) campus, 3200<br \/>\nAvenue C, Big Spring, Texas, on Sunday, May 31, 2009 between 3 p.m.<br \/>\nand 6 p.m. after<\/p>\n<p>which dinner will be served. An introduction and orientation session<br \/>\nwill follow. The training sessions will begin on June 1 at 8 a.m. and<br \/>\nto 5 p.m. daily, and will end at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 5. Big Spring<br \/>\ncan be reached via the Midland-Odessa Airport. Airport-to-campus<br \/>\ntransportation is available for a reasonable fee.<\/p>\n<p>Only individuals who can attend for the entire week will be<br \/>\nconsidered for this intensive training. Participants are expected to<br \/>\nbe on time for all sessions and commit to giving 100% of their energy<br \/>\nand time to this activity.
