This year, 2009, is the 200th anniversary of German composer Felix
\nMendelssohn\u2019s birth. Mendelssohn, one of the Romantic period\u2019s
\nmost prolific composers, was born to a notable Jewish family which
\nlater converted to Christianity. Sunday morning at 11:00, the Chancel
\nChoir and The Orchestra at Arborlawn present his setting of Psalm 95,
\nentitled \u201cCome, Let Us Sing.\u201d This is a magnificent choral work of
\npraise to our living God also featuring soloists Frankye Davis, Pam
\nStoker, Kay Phillips, and Alan Davis.<\/p>\n
In addition, the choir will sing three anthems composed by Mack
\nWilberg, presently the conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The
\ncongregation joins the choir and orchestra in singing \u201cWhen Morning
\nGilds the Skies\u201d and \u201cO God, Our Help in Ages Past\u201d arranged by
\nDallas composer, Sterling Procter. Rev. Ben Disney will be preaching.<\/p>\n
