{"id":6390,"date":"2009-05-05T17:51:53","date_gmt":"2009-05-05T12:51:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=6390"},"modified":"2009-05-05T21:41:54","modified_gmt":"2009-05-06T02:41:54","slug":"dial-211-service-you-can-call-thru-deaf-link","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2009\/05\/05\/dial-211-service-you-can-call-thru-deaf-link\/","title":{"rendered":"Dial 211 Service &#8211; You can call thru Deaf Link"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greetings my fellow Texans&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I have been asked by numerous DARS employees and specialists<br \/>\nregarding the complaint of their local Deaf clients who have been<br \/>\nunable to contact 211 of Texas through their video phones for ride<br \/>\nassistance during threatening weather events (they aren&#8217;t able to<br \/>\n&#8220;dial 211&#8221;)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>What surprises me is that this information has been posted on the<br \/>\nTexas DPS website now for nearly 2 years and yet many &#8220;deaf resource<br \/>\nspecialists&#8221; are not familiar with it, so that said, would you please<br \/>\npost this link for every Texan that would like to be informed and<br \/>\nprepared&#8230;they can visit the state&#8217;s website that has access to their<br \/>\ninformation in ASL, Voice and Text&#8230;that link is:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.txdps.state.tx.us\/dem\/pages\/deaflink.htm\">http:\/\/www.txdps.state.tx.us\/dem\/pages\/deaflink.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>**For 211 information, scroll down and click on either icon (Deaf<br \/>\nLink logo for ASL; Paper for Text format) for the 10-digit number to<br \/>\nuse when calling 211 through your video phones. <\/p>\n<p>Also, AHAS-IN is a FREE program that anyone can sign up for and start<br \/>\ngetting alerts and information in ASL, Text, Voice and Braille&#8230;equal<br \/>\naccess to the same information that the hearing world has.<\/p>\n<p>You can sign up for that by visiting Deaf Link&#8217;s website and<br \/>\nsubmitting your information into the State&#8217;s database.
