Convo Relay Launches a New Video Relay Service for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communities<\/p>\n

Convo Relay today announced the launch of a new Video Relay Service
\nfor Deaf and Hard of Hearing consumers, Convo. Convo utilizes
\ntechnology, call centers and video software to provide a service that
\nenables deaf people to communicate with hearing parties.<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 — Convo Relay today announced the launch of a new Video Relay Service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing consumers, Convo. Convo utilizes technology, call centers and video software to provide a service that enables deaf people to communicate with hearing parties.<\/p>\n

The vision of Convo includes ensuring speedy connection times, hence
\nproviding the best of functional equivalency.<\/p>\n

Convo’s ownership group includes Ed Bosson, who is credited as the
\nfather of Video Relay Service. The other partners include Chad Taylor,
\nWayne Betts and Robin Horwitz, who are all deaf and have had prior
\nexperience in working for other Video Relay Service providers. The
\npartners will be leveraging their years of experience in the industry
\nand personal experience of deafness into an efficient, measured video
\nrelay service.<\/p>\n

Bosson says, “For a long time, I’ve always wanted to establish a
\nservice that is 100% consumer-driven with assured interpreter
\nquality… I was truly excited to be working with a group of people
\nwho are consumer-oriented, not spreadsheet-oriented.”<\/p>\n

Video Relay Services are used by approximately 500,000 deaf and hard
\nof hearing people in this country. The technology involves video
\nconferencing equipment that connects a deaf or hard of hearing
\nconsumer to a sign language interpreter who translates phone calls for
\nthe consumer.<\/p>\n

Horwitz adds “We love the call quality of our service, and we can’t
\nwait for others to experience it. We are all dedicated users of video
\nrelay service, and we feel that this gives us a head start in terms of
\nresearch and development.”<\/p>\n

Convo is currently developing various products that will push the
\ncalling experience to new frontiers. Taylor, who comes from a
\nprogramming background, explains “We come from a specific world, and
\nwe will be developing products geared towards this specific consumer
\nbase. We believe that the simpler the product, the better it is.”<\/p>\n

Betts explains, “We also plan to create an unique experience for our
\nteam members and giving them the opportunity to grow on the job. It’s
\nall about creating a positive and progress atmosphere for our team.”<\/p>\n
