AUSTIN (May 26, 2009)\u2014Beatrice Burke of Temple is among six people
\nwhom Gov. Rick Perry named to the Texas School for the Deaf Governing
\nBoard Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The board functions much as a local school board and provides
\noversight of services, budget preparation and appointment of the
\nschool\u2019s superintendent.<\/p>\n

Burke is a retired associate professor at Southwest Collegiate
\nInstitute for the Deaf.<\/p>\n

She is being reappointed for a term that will expire on Jan. 31,
\n2013.<\/p>\n

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Texas Senate.<\/p>\n

Beatrice M. Burke of Temple is a retired associate professor at the
\nSouthwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf. She is a member of the
\nNational and Texas associations of the Deaf and Southwest Collegiate
\nInstitute for the Deaf Advisory Committee. She is also a permanent
\nmember of the Convention of American Instructor for the Deaf. Burke
\nreceived a bachelor\u2019s degree from Gallaudet College and a master\u2019s
\ndegree in English from Texas State University. She is being
\nreappointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2013.<\/p>\n

Walt Camenish III of Austin is a certified deaf interpreter, and
\nretired deaf educator and principal of the Texas School for the Deaf.
\nHe is a member of the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf
\nAdvisory Committee, Texas School for the Deaf Alumni Association and
\nSouthwest Deaf Golf Association. Camenish received a bachelor\u2019s
\ndegree from Gallaudet University and a master\u2019s degree in education
\nadministration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is being
\nreappointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2015, and will continue as
\nchair of the board.<\/p>\n

Nancy M. Carrizales of Katy is a substitute teacher for the deaf in
\nthe Katy and Cypress Independent School Districts, and a former
\nteacher at the Texas School for the Deaf. She is a member of the Katy
\nIndependent School District Special Education Committee and a past
\nmember of the Strategic Planning Committee. She is also vice president
\nof the St. Dominic Club at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Carrizales
\nreceived a bachelor\u2019s degree from Gallaudet University and a
\nmaster\u2019s degree in deaf education from McDaniel University. She is
\nbeing reappointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2013.<\/p>\n

Eric Hogue of Wylie is mayor of Wylie and executive communication
\nmanager at Electronic Data Systems. He is chair of the Birmingham Land
\nTrust and a board member of LifePath Systems. He is also chair of the
\nWylie Parks and Recreation 4B Board and a member of the Wylie
\nIndependent School District Education Foundation. Hogue received a
\nbachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He
\nreplaces Charles Estes of Fort Worth for a term to expire Jan. 31,
\n2015.<\/p>\n

Susan K. Ridley of Sugar Land is a financial analyst at the Federal
\nBureau of Investigation. She is a member of the Association of
\nCertified Fraud Examiners, American Institute of Certified Public
\nAccountants, and the Houston Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association.
\nRidley received a bachelor\u2019s degree from Sam Houston State
\nUniversity. She replaces Dale Kesterson of Big Spring for a term to
\nexpire Jan. 31, 2013.<\/p>\n

Angela Wolf of Austin is director of human resources for the Public
\nUtility Commission of Texas. She is a member of the Texas School for
\nthe Deaf Parent Teacher Association and American Society for Deaf
\nChildren. Wolf received a bachelor\u2019s degree from Stephen F. Austin
\nState University. She is being reappointed for a term to expire Jan.
\n31, 2015.<\/p>\n
