Rick Perry named to the Texas School for the Deaf Governing<br \/>\nBoard Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The board functions much as a local school board and provides<br \/>\noversight of services, budget preparation and appointment of the<br \/>\nschool\u2019s superintendent.<\/p>\n<p>Burke is a retired associate professor at Southwest Collegiate<br \/>\nInstitute for the Deaf.<\/p>\n<p>She is being reappointed for a term that will expire on Jan. 31,<br \/>\n2013.<\/p>\n<p>The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Texas Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Board Appointments<\/p>\n<p>(Source: Texas Governor\u2019s Office)<\/p>\n<p>Beatrice M. Burke of Temple is a retired associate professor at the<br \/>\nSouthwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf. She is a member of the<br \/>\nNational and Texas associations of the Deaf and Southwest Collegiate<br \/>\nInstitute for the Deaf Advisory Committee. She is also a permanent<br \/>\nmember of the Convention of American Instructor for the Deaf. Burke<br \/>\nreceived a bachelor\u2019s degree from Gallaudet College and a master\u2019s<br \/>\ndegree in English from Texas State University. She is being<br \/>\nreappointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Walt Camenish III of Austin is a certified deaf interpreter, and<br \/>\nretired deaf educator and principal of the Texas School for the Deaf.<br \/>\nHe is a member of the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf<br \/>\nAdvisory Committee, Texas School for the Deaf Alumni Association and<br \/>\nSouthwest Deaf Golf Association. Camenish received a bachelor\u2019s<br \/>\ndegree from Gallaudet University and a master\u2019s degree in education<br \/>\nadministration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is being<br \/>\nreappointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2015, and will continue as<br \/>\nchair of the board.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy M. Carrizales of Katy is a substitute teacher for the deaf in<br \/>\nthe Katy and Cypress Independent School Districts, and a former<br \/>\nteacher at the Texas School for the Deaf. She is a member of the Katy<br \/>\nIndependent School District Special Education Committee and a past<br \/>\nmember of the Strategic Planning Committee. She is also vice president<br \/>\nof the St. Dominic Club at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Carrizales<br \/>\nreceived a bachelor\u2019s degree from Gallaudet University and a<br \/>\nmaster\u2019s degree in deaf education from McDaniel University. She is<br \/>\nbeing reappointed for a term to expire Jan. 31, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Hogue of Wylie is mayor of Wylie and executive communication<br \/>\nmanager at Electronic Data Systems. He is chair of the Birmingham Land<br \/>\nTrust and a board member of LifePath Systems. He is also chair of the<br \/>\nWylie Parks and Recreation 4B Board and a member of the Wylie<br \/>\nIndependent School District Education Foundation. Hogue received a<br \/>\nbachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He<br \/>\nreplaces Charles Estes of Fort Worth for a term to expire Jan. 31,<br \/>\n2015.<\/p>\n<p>Susan K. Ridley of Sugar Land is a financial analyst at the Federal<br \/>\nBureau of Investigation. She is a member of the Association of<br \/>\nCertified Fraud Examiners, American Institute of Certified Public<br \/>\nAccountants, and the Houston Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association.<br \/>\nRidley received a bachelor\u2019s degree from Sam Houston State<br \/>\nUniversity. She replaces Dale Kesterson of Big Spring for a term to<br \/>\nexpire Jan. 31, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Wolf of Austin is director of human resources for the Public<br \/>\nUtility Commission of Texas. She is a member of the Texas School for<br \/>\nthe Deaf Parent Teacher Association and American Society for Deaf<br \/>\nChildren. Wolf received a bachelor\u2019s degree from Stephen F. Austin<br \/>\nState University.
