If you decide to come to the Rally, PLEASE read the following website www.gufssa.com for all the TRUE FACTS information of why we are protesting against Jane K. Fernandes.<\/p>\n
Quote, \u201cShe\u2019s not Deaf enough\u201d, is not understandable in Dallas area. We need to be sure and clarify why we do not want J.K. Fernandes to be the next President of Gallaudet University.<\/p>\n
We need ASL interpreters to volunteer to be present at this Rally. The TV and news media will be informed of our gathering. <\/p>\n
Bring posters! Here are some suggestions as to what wordings to write on posters:<\/p>\n
**Gallaudet University, Faculty, Students, Staff, and Alumni (FSSA)
\n1) Reopen the presidential search process!
\n2) No reprisals for the Gallaudet students, staff, faculty, and alumni!<\/p>\n
**JK Fernandes MUST resign as Gallaudet University (Wash DC) newly selected President!
\n**JK Fernandes is an UNFIT Deaf President for Gallaudet University!
\n**Gallaudet University NEEDS a TRUE DEAF leader who embraces diversity and to be supportive of Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities!<\/p>\n
FYI: Reasons for the rally – Fernandes does not have a following:<\/p>\n
On April 27, 2006 an undergraduate poll showed that 81% did not support her appointment as presidential candidate.
\nOn October 16, 2006, she received an 82% faculty vote of no confidence as president-designate.
\nOn October 16, 2006, the University alumni association called for her resignation and for the Board of Trustees to step in to resolve the crisis. <\/p>\n
On September 20, 2006, the Student Body Government voted not to recognize her as president-designate. <\/p>\n
The Administration and the Board of Trustees are spending large amounts of money to spin protesters in a negative light instead of addressing the reasons that protests are occurring. <\/p>\n
They have also been spending money on private security and video surveillance to intimidate protesters. <\/p>\n
This is money that is coming from tax payers, alumni donations, and from students\u2019 tuition. Congress should investigate if this is an abuse of tax payers\u2019 money.<\/p>\n
This crisis is all about leadership ineffectiveness \u2013 the Board did not take into account the president designee\u2019s past performance as Provost or as Vice President of Clerc Center (KDES\/MSSD \u2013 the elementary\/high school on campus).<\/p>\n

The teachers and staff of Laurent Clerc Center demand that Jane Kelleher Fernandes resign or be removed from her position for the greater good of Gallaudet University and the Laurent Clerc Center. <\/p>\n
83% Agreed 6% Disagreed 11% Abstained<\/p>\n
