More Money For Howard College, SWCID 7\/28\/09<\/p>\n

Big Spring, Texas – Howard College and its sister school will soon be getting more help from the state.<\/p>\n

The state has granted more than $650,000 dollars for Howard College and the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf.<\/p>\n

The money comes at a good time since the college’s appraised value dropped this past year.<\/p>\n

College President Cheryl Sparks says there are several areas where the college will put the money to good use.<\/p>\n

“We’re looking at some additional faculty. We have some initiatives in the nursing area as well as dual credit also in the work force training area. We are wanting to grow our e-learning program and also our dual credit offerings for across the state of Texas.”<\/p>\n

The college will also receive half-a-million dollars from a small college supplement.<\/p>\n

This is the first time Howard College has received this money<\/p>\n

They want to use the money for new technology.<\/p>\n
