The training would empower you learn to self-advocate as a Deaf or Hard of Hearing individual.  Here are the training dates and locations:<\/p>\n<p>North Houston\/Spring, Texas<\/p>\n<p>Monday evening, August 31, 2009<\/p>\n<p>6:00pm to 8:00pm<\/p>\n<p>Harris County Public Library<br \/>\nBarbara Bush Branch at Cypress Creek<br \/>\n(Earl Elliott Room)<br \/>\n6817 Cypresswood Drive<br \/>\nSpring, TX 77379<\/p>\n<p>The Speaker<\/p>\n<p>Brian Determan, the ASL-native deaf individual, serves as the Deafness Resource Specialist 6B at Communication Axess Ability Group, funded by DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services)  &#8211; Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. He works with agencies and service providers regarding their access obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act. His training will empower deaf or hard of hearing individuals with knowledge of their civil rights and how to self-advocate.<\/p>\n<p>Accommodations for participants such as real time captioning (C.A.R.T.) or sign to voice interpreter services must be requested by Wednesday, August 26, 2008 for August 31 training.
