SPIRIT WEEK KICKS OFF HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES AT TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF<\/p>\n

PRE-GAME ACTIVITIES, KICK OFF SCHOOLS\u2019 OLDEST, BIGGEST TRADITION<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 September 14, 2009 Homecoming at the Texas School for the
\nDeaf (TSD) is still the most cherished tradition celebrated at the 152
\nyear-old school. Students kick off Spirit Week at TSD today, which includes
\nfriendly class challenges for the annual Spirit Award competition. Students
\nselect a theme for each day of Spirit Week, and dress-up accordingly.
\nTogether, each class competes and is judged for the most spirit each day.
\nDuring Friday\u2019s pep rally, the class with the most wins during Spirit Week
\nis announced and takes ownership of the coveted Spirit Award for the school
\nyear.<\/p>\n

An exciting special performance Friday evening, includes TSD students and
\nDeaf community members appearing on-stage, when TSD and DeafACT, Inc.
\npresent “Friday Night Live” – a hilarious, comedic variety show you\u2019ll not
\nwant to miss.<\/p>\n

Texas School for the Deaf – located at 1102 South Congress Avenue – hosts
\nrival, California School for the Deaf (CSD)-Fremont on the gridiron,
\nSaturday, September 19 at 5:30 pm, where TSD\u2019s 2009 Homecoming court will be
\ncrowned during half-time. Rooted in long-standing tradition, each year
\nstudents, families, friends, alumni – as well as the opposing rivals and
\nfans – converge on TSD\u2019s campus mall to celebrate together at the Homecoming
\nFestival prior to the game. During the festival, the TSD Alumni
\nAssociation\u2019s long-awaited TSD history book will be available for sale and

The Texas School for the Deaf is the oldest continuously operating publicly
