The 16th Winter Deaflympics (www.2007deaflympics.com\/) will be held in Salt Lake City between February 1-10, 2007. The participants will be the most elite deaf athletes from around the world, and they will be competing at some of the same venues used in the 2002 hearing Olympic Games. Curling events will be held at the Steiner Ice Sheets-Sports Complex. <\/p>\n
I am David Sicoli, and I have been living in Austin, Texas since 1996. I am very proud to be a Texan. I want to represent the State of Texas and the Austin Deaf Community as a top-notch athlete. I am married and a father of three young deaf children. I am employed as an Outreach Specialist for Sprint. I am a member of the Lone Star Curling Club in Austin, Texas. <\/p>\n
Unlike athletes participating in the oldest international multi-cultural sports event in the world, the Olympic Games, Deaf athletes must pay their own way to the Deaflympics. <\/p>\n
My budget for training, equipment, and travel for the Deaflympics is $4,165. In order to help supplement these expenditures, I am conducting several fund-raisers. If you would like to be informed about these events, please send me an e-mail, and I will contact you with additional details.<\/p>\n
