Matt Herrman Bio:<\/p>\n
Born on the anniversary date of the Wright Brothers\u2019 first historic flight –
\nMatt Herrman was also born Deaf. As a child growing up in Council Bluffs,
\nIowa, Matt developed a love for aviation that motivates him today, and
\ninspires the world around him. One of only two Deaf pilots to ever earn the
\nprestigious FAA designation as an instrument-rated pilot, 29-year-old
\nHerrman didn\u2019t allow his deafness to keep him from achieving his dream. A
\nformer business major, Matt was determined to focus on his passion for
\nflying, beginning his flight training in college. Attending the University
\nof Nebraska, Omaha\u2019s Aviation Institute, Matt earned both his private pilots
\nlicense, and later his commercial pilots license – with the much coveted
\ninstrument rating. Having participated in a number of aviation programs,
\nincluding the Flying Mavericks Flight Team, Matt graduated in 2003 with a
\ndegree in Flight Specialization. Vice President of the Deaf Pilots
\nAssociation, and 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the
\nAviation Institute, Matt hopes to someday earn his flight instructor rating,
\nand eventually teach other Deaf people to fly. Affectionately known as the
\npilot with the busy hands, optimistic attitude and passion for flying,
\nMatt\u2019s remarkable story of desire and determination is an inspiring example
\nthat\u2026 the sky\u2019s the limit\u2026 for anyone willing to reach for it!<\/p>\n
