1st 2010 Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf on the horizon there has
\nnever been a more exciting time to organize the premier exclusive event in
\nU.S. and across the globe.<\/p>\n

We are looking for an individual with genuine passion and interest in our
\nmission, who is willing to commit voluntarily at least 4-6 hours per week to
\nthe organization for a prolonged period of time (7 months or longer).<\/p>\n

Volunteer hours: 4-6 hours per a week before the event.<\/p>\n

Our mission is empowering and educating young starters and future
\nentrepreneurs in starting up small business, lobbying businesses owned by
\nDeaf, Hard of Hearing, CODA, and ASL signers-owners, and improving a higher

Volunteer Position: <\/strong>Community Business Development Chair<\/strong><\/p>\n

Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Develop a network and relationships with autonomous, not-for-profit
\norganizations, small business owners and minority groups, undergraduate and
\ngraduate business schools, all levels of government, and the private sector
\nto meet the mission and vision of the Business Convention and Expo of the
\nDeaf.<\/p>\n

– Knowledge of the local and national organizations, business schools,
\nminority and small business owners groups, and private sector.<\/p>\n

– Believe in our community and possess an outstanding commitment in
\nprofessional relationship and network development.<\/p>\n

– Develop communications strategy with targeted groups.<\/p>\n

– To implement community business development by providing introduction,
\nleadership, education, coordination, and information to targeted sections
\nand groups.<\/p>\n

– Complete projects and reports by deadlines.<\/p>\n

– Support org. committee mission.<\/p>\n

– Research and identify community issues, needs and problems.<\/p>\n

– Develop promotional tools if it is needed.
\n_Experience and Qualifications:_<\/p>\n

– Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including
\npresentations)<\/p>\n

– Very strong networking abilities.<\/p>\n

– Presentation and proposal preparation abilities.<\/p>\n

– Strong computer skills are a must.<\/p>\n

– A polite and inspiring style of communication.<\/p>\n

– Creativity and a sense of humor.<\/p>\n

Volunteer Position: Social Media Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining BCED\u2019S
\npresence on online social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter,
\nreaching out to new audiences and strengthening BCED\u2019s relationship with
\nexisting supporters.<\/p>\n

* Maintain BCED\u2019s page on Facebook: uploading notes, pictures and sharing
\nnews;
\n* Maintain BCED\u2019s twitter account: grow the organizations network on twitter
\nand provide constant updates about the network;
\n* Research other online social networks that BCED could utilize to grow its
\nnetwork;
\n* Develop electronic communications strategy;
\n* Build online presence, including search engine optimization Must have
\nexperience in one or more of the above areas.<\/p>\n

Ideally, you would already bring the following skills with you:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Excellent written communication skills with proficient English grammar,
\nspelling and punctuation
\n\u2022 A passion for and interest in utilizing new media and online social
\nnetworks for social change
\n\u2022 A polite and inspiring style of communication
\n\u2022 Creativity and a sense for marketing<\/p>\n

Volunteer Position: Public Relations Coordinator
\nDuties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Develop a strategy for identifying and cultivating connections with
\ntraditional and non-traditional media such as print, TV, radio, and others.
\n– Write, revise, and deliver press releases.
\n– Connect with national and local media for publicizing purposes.
\n– Keep a detailed record of the projects you are doing and how you are
\npublicizing events.
\n– Keep files and computer folders for you position organized and
\nup-to-date with the projects you worked on.
\n– Address issues and accomplishments of entrepreneurs and small
\nbusiness owners with hearing loss.
\n– Develop promotional materials if it is needed.
\n– Develop and execute media relations, strategies\/programs, and
\nidentify opportunities to build clients visibility in the press and its
\ntarget business communities.
\n– Draft press release earnings announcements, conference call scripts
\nand facilitate meetings at community conferences.
\n– Respond to investor inquiries and analyst calls. Prepare investor
\npresentations
\n– Manage development of monthly report to org. committee.<\/p>\n

Requirements:<\/strong>
\nBachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent relevant business experience (Business,
\nMarketing, Communication, or related field required)
\n1+ years of experience in public relations, preferably a journalist with
\ncontact in media.
\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.
\nExperience in delivering communications in written, web and other medium to
\na multiple location and multi-cultured workforce in English.
\nWillingness to work in voluntary basis in a fast-moving and team-oriented
\nenvironment

Volunteer Position: Event Promotion Chair<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Coordinate and perform extensive marketing and outreach activities
\nto public for Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf;
\n– Perform extensive cold and warm contacts to promote the BCED;
\n– Perform internet searches to obtain contact information for
\noutreach;
\n– Compose promotional announcements, business letters\/ emails, and others;
\n– Supervise a marketing team: Social Media, VLOG, Exhibition, and
\nPublic Relations
\n– Manage and coordinate tasks for marketing team;
\n– Complete monthly reports to org. committee;
\n– Meet deadlines.<\/p>\n

Qualifications, experience, and skills:<\/strong>
\n– Excellent verbal and written communication and grammar skills;
\n– Experience making cold and warm contacts to businesses and to
\npublic;
\n– Experience with marketing or media or advertising;
\n– Managerial skills preferred;
\n– Excellent knowledge and experience with desktop office applications;
\n– Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage projects on time;
\n– Interpersonal skills.<\/p>\n
