(Dec. 4, 2009) &#8211; Rochester Institute of Technology is<br \/>\nsponsoring a national competition for students with hearing loss who are in<br \/>\ngrades 6 through 12.<\/p>\n<p>The RIT National Science Fair for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students allows<br \/>\nentrants to compete individually or as a two- or three-person team for cash<br \/>\nprizes of up to $500.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify, students must submit an entry form and a 250-word science<br \/>\nproject summary. Judges will choose finalists in both middle school and high<br \/>\nschool divisions who will be invited to attend the Science Fair March 26-28,<br \/>\n2010 at RIT\u2019s National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, N.Y.<br \/>\nto display their project and compete for first, second or third place in<br \/>\neach division.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2009 competition, nearly 50 contestants from Arizona, Arkansas,<br \/>\nCalifornia, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South<br \/>\nCarolina, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin brought their exhibits to NTID.<br \/>\nWinning topics included \u201cGlobal Warming,\u201d \u201cSigning and Driving,\u201d \u201cEffect<br \/>\nfrom Car Exhaust\u201d and \u201cHow the Brain Registers and Reacts with Age.\u201d The<br \/>\ncomplete lists of winners and their projects can be found here:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ntid.rit.edu\/media\/full_text.php?article_id=930\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.ntid.rit.edu\/media\/full_text.php?article_id=930<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For an entry form, competition rules, acceptance criteria and a schedule of<br \/>\nactivities at the science fair, visit<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rit.edu\/NTID\/ScienceFairNR\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.rit.edu\/NTID\/ScienceFairNR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to submit project summaries is January 15, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>RIT is internationally recognized as a leader in computing, engineering,<br \/>\nimaging technology, and fine and applied arts programs, and for providing<br \/>\nunparalleled support services for students with hearing loss.
