Transportation Workshops and Public Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n

North Texans will have several opportunities in December to learn about
\ntransportation projects in the region and share opinions about the
\ndevelopment of future transportation plans.<\/p>\n

During interactive workshops for Mobility 2035, the next comprehensive
\nlong-term term plan for meeting transportation needs through the next 25
\nyears, residents will be invited to help establish a vision for the future
\nof transportation in the region. The plan must be financially constrained;
\ntherefore, only projects for which the region expects to receive funding can
\nbe included.<\/p>\n

Workshop discussion will address:<\/p>\n

– Transportation needs.
\n– Transportation funding scenarios and options.
\n– The relationship between population growth and transportation.
\n– The relationship between transportation and the environment.
\n– Priorities for the transportation plan.<\/p>\n

At four public meetings, one of which will be an interactive webcast
\nviewing, transportation planners will seek input on proposed revisions to
\nthe Public Participation Plan, which outlines how an open exchange of ideas
\nand information is encouraged. Proposed revisions address the growing
\nregion, changing communications and suggestions received at previous public
\nmeetings.<\/p>\n

Additionally, proposed modifications to the comprehensive list of funded
\ntransportation projects will be presented at public meetings. Projects with
\nfunding from local, state and federal sources are listed in the
\nTransportation Improvement Program. The list is updated regularly to
\nmaintain accuracy. Planners will also provide an update on projects with
\nfunding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Finally,
\nstaff will provide an update on efforts to secure desperately needed funding
\nfor transportation projects and outline various potential revenue scenarios
\nand related transportation effects.<\/p>\n
