Participating US Dept of Labor\u2019s Office of Disability Employment Policy – DFW<\/strong><\/p>\n

I invite you to participate in an important event hosted by the U.S.
\nDepartment of Labor\u2019s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). As
\nSecretary of Labor Hilda Solis recently said, work is much more than a
\nsource of income; it’s a source of dignity. Work, she said, is about who and
\nwhat we are. As part of our public outreach to develop strategies to
\nincrease good and sustainable jobs for people with disabilities, my office
\nalong with several Federal partners, is holding a series of public meetings,
\nor \u201cListening Sessions,\u201d seeking your input on employment issues for
\nAmericans with disabilities. Our first \u201cListening Session\u201d is scheduled for
\nDallas, TX on January 21, 2010 at the WESTIN CITY CENTER at 650 Pearl
\nStreet, 75201.<\/p>\n

There will be a morning and afternoon session. During this six-city
\nListening Session tour, we will be seeking YOUR perspective, insight and
\nlife experiences on what is working and what needs to be changed. We want
\nto hear from you and we invite you to spread the word about these sessions
\nto your family, friends, colleagues, and others who share our goal of
\nincreasing employment of people with disabilities in good jobs. The goal of
\nthese events is to get YOUR new ideas and thoughts on what currently works
\nregarding Federal employment services and employment support programs that
\nare or could be used to improve long-term, sustainable employment of people
\nwith disabilities. Senior Federal officials from several government agencies
\nwill listen to your comments and suggestions as we work to improve and
\nbetter coordinate the services provided by the various Federal and State
\nprograms. We want to hear from you about what programs are working, which
\nones can and should be replicated, and what steps we can take to increase
\njob opportunities for women, Veterans and minorities with disabilities.<\/p>\n

These Listening Sessions are absolutely critical to creating new strategies
\nfor workers with disabilities to successfully compete for, retain, and
\nadvance in good jobs. You may register to attend a Listening Session,
