NAD Announces CEO Profile and Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) calls for candidates for a
\nvisionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will lead broad advocacy efforts
\ncovering the breadth of a lifetime and impacting future generations in areas
\nsuch as early intervention, education, employment, health care, technology,
\ntelecommunications, and youth leadership.<\/p>\n

The NAD CEO Search Committee (CSC) has developed a CEO profile and position
\nannouncement with input from Deaf America on the character, skills,
\nexperience, and educational background for the next chief executive of the
\nNAD. More than 80 delegates representing four NAD regions submitted input
\nduring caucuses at the National Leadership Training Conference held October
\n28-31, 2009 in Columbus, Ohio. Click here to view vlog:

\u201cThe feedback provided by grassroots members was terrific and very helpful
\nas we developed the CEO profile and position announcement,\u201d said CSC Chair
\nKirsten Poston. \u201cWe got a clear feel for the type of leader that members
\nwant for the NAD. The challenge now is to find prospective applicants who
\nmeet this profile and have the vision to take the NAD to greater heights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Current CEO Nancy J. Bloch, appointed in 1992 as the first female executive
\ndirector, will depart by March 31, 2011. The CSC was formed by the Board of
\nDirectors in the fall of 2009 to facilitate the search effort, which will
\nscreen candidates and recommend finalists to be considered by the Board as
\nthe next CEO of the NAD.<\/p>\n

The NAD encourages community participation in the CEO search effort. “We
\ninvite Deaf America to help spread word that the CEO search is happening via
\nemail, blogs, as well as Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets,”
\nsaid NAD President Bobbie Beth Scoggins. “We also encourage Deaf America to
\nrecommend names of prospective candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n

Names of prospective candidates can be submitted to CSC Chair Kirsten Poston
\nat csc@nad.org. Interested persons should review the CEO profile and
\nposition announcement for instructions on submission of applicant materials
\nno later than Monday, March 1, 2010.<\/p>\n
