H1N1 Flu Shots – Austin<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Sunday, January 10th, marks the beginning of the annual observance of
\nNational Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW). This flu season has presented
\nour community with a unique challenge to fight a new type of influenza \u2013the
\nH1N1 flu virus.<\/p>\n

H1N1 flu is a serious disease. The Centers for Disease Control and
\nPrevention estimates that between mid-April and November 14, 2009, 47
\nmillion people in the United States were infected with the 2009 H1N1 flu,
\nmore than 200,000 people were hospitalized, and over 9,800 people died.<\/p>\n

Influenza is unpredictable and we do not know the likelihood of a future
\nwave of H1N1 flu, but we do know that vaccination is the most important step
\nin protecting against influenza. Protect yourself, your family and your
\ncommunity by getting vaccinated.<\/p>\n

The Austin\/Travis County Health and Human Services Department is holding 2
\nadditional H1N1 clinics this month.<\/p>\n

Vaccines are available by appointment only and can be made by calling
\n972-5520.<\/p>\n
