This year we are pleased to be able to award two $3,000<br \/>\nscholarships.   These are one-time scholarships, but you may apply for as<br \/>\nmany years as the applicant is in school.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a copy of the scholarship announcement.  Please share the<br \/>\nannouncement with your employees, students and alums and encourage any<br \/>\nhearing college-bound adolescent or adult with Deaf parents to apply for the<br \/>\nscholarship. Pyers, Ph.D.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Millie Brother Scholarship for Hearing Children of Deaf Adults 2010-2011<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your interest in this year\u2019s Millie Brother Scholarship for<br \/>\nhearing children with deaf parents. This year, two scholarships for $3000<br \/>\neach will be offered.  We began accepting applications January 4, 2010.<br \/>\nApplicants must be the hearing son or daughter of deaf parents. Applicants<br \/>\nmay compete for both scholarships but a separate essay is required for each<br \/>\nsubmission.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship application package is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>The application form (PDF available online:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/coda-international.org\/blog\/scholarship\/\" target=\"_blank\"> http:\/\/coda-international.org\/blog\/scholarship\/<\/a>). The application is to<br \/>\nbe completed by the applicant.<\/p>\n<p>Essay:  2-page double-spaced<\/p>\n<p>* Describe how your experience with Deaf parents has shaped your life and<br \/>\ngoals.<br \/>\n* Include a description of your future career aspirations.<br \/>\n* Essays will be judged for organization, content, and creativity. We<br \/>\nencourage you to ask someone else to proofread your essay before you submit<br \/>\nit.<br \/>\nThe letter of agreement to publish your essay at the end of the application.<br \/>\nThe letter of agreement form must be faxed back to my office at:<br \/>\n781-283-3730.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to 1-3 above, each applicant must submit:<\/p>\n<p>* An official transcript from your high school and your college or<br \/>\nuniversity if you are currently enrolled.  Unofficial transcripts will not<br \/>\nbe accepted. Transcripts can take several weeks to process, so we encourage<br \/>\nyou arrange your transcript requests well in advance of the April 2nd, 201<br \/>\ndeadline.<br \/>\n* Two sealed letters of recommendation (PDF available online) from teachers<\/p>\n<p>Scholarship winners will be announced at the annual conference for Children<br \/>\nof Deaf Adults (July 22-25, 2010).  Winners will be notified by phone and by<br \/>\nemail.  Scholarship winners\u2019 essays and photos will be published in the CODA<br \/>\nConnection, the organization\u2019s newsletter and on the CODA website.<\/p>\n<p>Deadline for submission: April 2, 2010. All application packages must be<br \/>\ncompleted and postmarked by April 2, 2010.
