Academy asks state to reconsider closing<\/strong><\/p>\n

ARLINGTON — Jean Massieu Academy, a charter school in Arlington that serves
\nmostly deaf children and their siblings, has asked the Texas Education
\nAgency to reconsider its move to revoke the school’s accreditation and to
\nclose the school. The state agency announced Wednesday that the school’s
\naccreditation was revoked because of poor performance on state academic and
\nfinancial accountability systems. The school, which opened in 1999, was one
\nof only four charter schools or districts in Texas to have its accreditation
\nrevoked this year. School officials will hold a hearing with TEA officials
