Instructor: Carolyn Honish, CPDT and Delta Society Instructor\/Evaluator,
\nis a Deaf Education teacher with Round Rock ISD. Her two year old deaf
\ndouble dapple dachshund is a certified pet therapy dog with the Delta
\nSociety. He responds to over 35 sign language phrases\/commands.<\/p>\n

Course Content: Participants will learn how to effectively train their deaf
\ndogs in a fun, positive manner using sign language. Issues involved in
\nowning a deaf dog will be discussed: communicating with deaf dogs, proper
\nsocialization, safety, how to get a deaf dog’s attention when it is not
\nwithin reach, desensitization to reduce being startled, potty training,
\nobedience commands (sit, down, stay, leave it, drop it, etc), and good house
\nmanners. Dogs will also be taught a few tricks.<\/p>\n
