VORTEX Repertory Company proudly presents Sleeping Beauty, a magical musical
\nfaery tale by Bonnie Cullum and Content Love Knowles. This dynamic
\nproduction joins the musical theatre canon with a feminist, revisionist,
\nre-telling of this well-beloved faery tale. This production is accessible
\nfor all ages.<\/p>\n

With its first-ever NEA-funded production, the artists of VORTEX Repertory
\nCompany have created some of the most stunning design and spectacle in the
\n22-year history of this cutting-edge company. From the larger-than-life
\ncostumes for the 13 Faeries and the Royal Court to the huge revolving spiral
\ntower and the fantastical lighting, the magic of the mythic kingdom of
\nAvalia comes to life in song and spectacle.<\/p>\n

Cullum and Knowles first created Sleeping Beauty in 2005, in a heart-felt
\nversion that played to packed houses, adoring fans, and young princesses.
\nNow, they have re-worked and revised the original with some entirely new
\nsongs, revised text and music, a contemporary design, a new seating
\narrangement, and all-new stellar cast. Don\u2019t miss the VORTEX performance
\nevent of the year.<\/p>\n

Conceived and directed by Bonnie Cullum. Musical Direction by Content Love
\nKnowles. Scenic Design by Ann Marie Gordon. Lighting Design by Jason
\nAmato. Costume Design by Pam Fletcher Friday and Griffon Ramsey. Sound
\nDesign by Roy Taylor.<\/p>\n

Featuring VORTEX artists Betsy McCann, Kira Parra, Jonathan Itchon, Andy
\nAgne, Tamara Farley, and Jen Coy. And making their VORTEX debuts: Julia
\nLorenz, Adam Smith, Suzanne Balling, Dara Allen, Christina Childress, David
\nAzoulay, Andrea Smith, Alejandro Rodriguez, Krysta Gonzalez, Justin
\nLaVergne, Chelsea Manasseri, Steve Williams, and Shannon Davis. Live music
\nperformed by Content Love Knowles, Chris Humphrey, Ed Kliman, and Terri
\nLord.<\/p>\n

In addition to Sleeping Beauty, Bonnie Cullum and Content Love Knowles have
\npreviously collaborated on numerous productions including Oceana, Trickster,
\nHoly Well and Sacred Flame, and Dark Goddess.<\/p>\n

Sleeping Beauty is funded and supported in part by the City of Austin
\nthrough the Cultural Arts Division, by a grant from the Texas Commission on
