TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF PARTNERS WITH ANONYMOUS ALERTS TO PROVIDE NEW SAFETY APP
Austin, Texas – The Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) has partnered with Anonymous Alerts to provide a state-of-the-art school safety app.
Through an anonymous two-way communications channel, the app allows students, staff, teachers, and parents in the school community to anonymously submit alerts about suspicious activities, safety threats, alcohol or drug use, depression, harassment, family issues, campus safety concerns, and self-harm issues to school administrators or counselors.
The app provides school officials with the opportunity to continue the conversation by using the system’s anonymous two-way communications® messaging tool, helping school officials better investigate the situation and take appropriate action.
Superintendent Claire Bugen praises the new app as a tool to help curve bullying and address school safety concerns, “School safety is a number one priority for us. We are thrilled to provide our teachers, parents, and students with this innovative tool to report any school safety concerns, whether it’s bullying, alcohol or drug use, depression, self-harm, or the potential of an intruder on campus.”
Students, parents, and staff members can download the Anonymous Alerts® app for free on Apple and Android devices and gain access to the service by using a simple activation code that will be provided by the school.
TSD will provide an Anonymous Alerts® web-application that students, teachers, and staff can access to send a web-based report. The web form is available in numerous languages, including English, Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL).
Report submitters can provide enhanced information to school officials by attaching a photo, video, or screenshot with their report.
Students will be able to view the “helpful links and resources” section in the mobile app that contains links to informational websites related to cyber-bullying, social and emotional learning, self-harm prevention, and mental health self-help content. The system will be monitored during the school year.
“We are excited to get started with TSD and expand our footprint in the Austin area with such a prestigious school,” said T. Gregory Bender, President & CEO of Anonymous Alerts, LLC.
