We started our 39th Annual Men’s and 32nd Annual Women’s Regional Slo-Pitch Softball Tournament in Jackson, Mississippi and the fields in Pearl, Mississippi on July 13-15, 2006.
The weather was so sweating hot with nearly 100 degrees daily with the threatening of thunderstorms which never happened. We had 182 players with 8 men’s and 3 women’s teams and 145 fans…totaling 327 registrations.
Thursday night meetings ended with the elections of officers. I announced my retirement and stepped down from the position as commissioner of SWSAD effective October 1, 2006. The election results are for 2006-2009: Brent Potter, Austin, Tx as Commissioner, Ken Seabolt, Dallas, Tx as Deputy Commissioner, Robert Brannan, Little Rock, Ark as Secretary/Treasurer, Lanny Pickering, Jackson, Ms as Information Director, and Chas Haney, Baton Rouge, La as Tournament Director.
We started the tournaments with one game round robin for the men to determine the seedings based on most runs to least runs and full round robin games for the women. Men finished 3 game guarantee Saturday afternoon with the results:
CHAMPIONS: Texas Toons
Runner-ups: Dallas Blue Mach
Third Place: Okies-Boys of Summer
Fourth Place: Texas Desperados
Fifth Place: Memphis
Sixth Place: Little Rock Silents
Seventh Place: Houston Extremes
Eighth Place: Jackson
The Women finished double eliminations Saturday afternoon with the results:
Champions: Keep Texas Weird
Runner-ups: Mississippi Coast
Third Place: Texas Girlz
