PAH! A workshop for ASL High School Teachers in Houston’s Public Schools
This workshop will be conducted entirely in ASL. The workshop is free to high school ASL teachers.

Presenters:
Susan Rostkowski, BA in Deaf Education, Bowling Green University, Ohio. She has been teacher of the deaf for five years and five years as an ASL I, II, III teacher and club sponsor at Cypress Fairbanks ISD. Susan has been an adjunct teacher for two years at Cy-Fair College in the Interpreter Training Program. In 2006, Susan as a board member for Houston Area Teachers of Foreign Language as the ASL representative led a successful language competition for over 40 ASL students from over seven different school districts. She is also a member of ASLTA.. TxASLTA-Co Chair HS ASL teachers
Robyn Marcak, M.S. in Deaf Education, Lamar University. She is certified in all level of education and Secondary Level in ASL in the state of Texas. She taught ASL program at Fort Bend Independent School District and Klein Independent School District. She has been an adjunct teacher at Cy-Fair College. She gives numerous ASL workshops at locally, state and national. She is a member of ASLTA and is TXASLTA board, President.
This exciting workshop will cover:
Classroom Management
No Voice activities in the classroom
Target vocabularies – classroom
Activities & rules that increase students expressive-receptive skills as well as behavior
Visual Aid: Mouth Morphemes
Mouth morphemes activities
Develop visual aids: Materials: project, games, participation’s
Create effective communication skills using mouth morphemes into ASL classroom and curriculums.

2. Exit Richey Road
3. After RR Crossing, turn left onto Hardy road
4. On first light, turn right onto W.W. Thorne Drive thru the school campus
5. On first traffic light, you’ll see a big SIGN NHC, pass to the next entrance where you will see NHC library
6. Enter into Visitor Parking lot
7. Walk toward the path between NHC library and toward on the left to Academic Bldg. Enter and walk straight the hall to ACAD 161.
