Dear Austin Citizen:
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year’s NDEAM theme is “Ready for a Global Workforce.” The City of Austin Celebrates the employment of individuals with disabilities in our community through the Austin Mayor’s Committee’s Employment Awards. We are seeking your nominations through October 5th for this year’s employment Awards Program. In addition to the Large and Small Employer of the Year awards and Employee of the Year, there are award categories for Media, Distinguished Service, Entrepreneur and the Martha Arbuckle Meritorious Service Award. Self-nominations from employers and organizations are welcome.
Completing a nomination only takes a few minutes. You may submit your nominations online at:
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/ada/nomform.htm
This year’s nominations deadline is October 5th. Don’t miss this opportunity to: thank a local employer for hiring employees with disabilities, recognize a local reporter for their coverage of disability issues or celebrate the contributions of a volunteer in your organization or community leader who has contributed to insuring the full participation of citizens with disabilities in the economic and social life of Austin. The 27th Annual Employment Awards Program will be held on October 23rd at the Austin Airport Marriott South (4415 South IH-35). This program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the City’s ADA Coordinator, Dolores Gonzalez, at 974-3256, or e-mail: [email protected].
