A MESSAGE FROM THE DAD PRESIDENT:
7/06/07
Hello Members and friends of DAD;
I have to admit I was a bit fortunate to miss so much rain last week when I was in Maryland area. A couple of my Dallas friends have informed my husband and I about the Dallas/Ft Worth weather condition while we were out of town. I just checked the weather, we are expecting more rain! Gosh, we certainly hope that none of us are affected by the flooding.
The first of a series of workshops 24 participates attended, “Becoming a Self Advocate: Getting the Job Done!” by DAD and DFW Area Deaf Hard of Hearing Service (DFWA) given last Saturday by Heather Bise, Regional Specialist, Deaf Hard of Hearing Service (DHHS). This educational and empowering workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Last Wednesday at our July 4th Cook Out Event, some of you may have seen me running around and looking exhausted. Yes I was! And at the same time, I was so PLEASED to see so many people who came and visited DAD. The attendance was twice as much than I predicted. It was awesome! Donna Lide, our Kitchen Manager, wants to thank to the following people who helped throughout the day; Julie Warren, Katie Stanton, Harold Ambeau, Preston Ashley Jr., Yvonne McFinley and Susan Vazquez. Laura Lemmon-Moore appreciates Callie Foster for helping with the children games. We thank everyone who have helped to make our day a successful one,
