FREE WORKSHOP ON HEARING LOSS

“I CAN HEAR YOU, BUT I CAN’T UNDERSTAND YOU!”

Come attend a free workshop on hearing loss Monday, October 29, 2007 from 8 a. m to 4 p.m. at the Bayer Conference Room, Student Center of Lee College, 200 Lee Drive, Baytown, TX, 77520. (Lunch will be on your own.)

Topics covered include: Social and psychological effects of hearing loss, distinctions among hard of
hearing, late deafened, and culturally deaf populations, communication techniques, coping
strategies, latest assistive technologies, free specialized telephone equipment, Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART), the latest on cochlear implants, and resources available.

Six free ceu’s have already been approved for audiologists, speech-language pathologists, hearing aid dispensers, sign language interpreters, social workers, and occupational therapists. This workshop is also appropriate for the general public, people with hearing loss and their family or friends, and anyone with an interest in hearing loss.
