NAD Across America Launched!

SILVER SPRING, MD – The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) announces the launch of NAD Across America (NAA), an exciting program to expand NAD representation by 5,000 individual members and to build a strong and vibrant online NAD community. The goal of the new online community, which will be filled with v/blogs, is to provide an ASL-rich meeting place for American deaf community to share perspectives and resources on key advocacy issues, and to generate donations to increase NAD advocacy impact.

“NAD Across America is the first step in building the new NAD community,” said Bobbie Beth Scoggins, NAD President. “We want to hear your ideas of how we can build and strengthen our deaf community nationwide through the Internet, for greater impact. Together, we can and will move forward.”

The NAD Across America campaign runs from November 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008, and involves NAD members who sign up to become recruiters. Volunteer recruiters will have the opportunity to earn points toward attainment of exciting prizes of their choice at increasing levels of value, and upon reaching a certain level, have their names entered into a grand prize drawing.

“Who better can share their passion for the NAD than current NAD members and donors,” said Nancy J. Bloch, NAD Chief Executive Officer. “Building a stronger and more effective NAD, with greater advocacy impact, is a win-win for everyone!”

Visitors to the NAA website can sign up to become a recruiter, check out the fabulous prizes, help generate donations, and watch the progress of recruiters around the country as the NAA logo, an outline map of the United States, is filled in as membership increases.

Many of the wonderful NAD Across America prizes have been made possible through the generous support of sponsors. To date, CSDVRS, CACVRS, HOVRS, i711.com, IP-Relay.com and Sprint Relay are helping to build the new NAD community.
