TCD November 2007 Newsletter

Texoma Council for the Deaf Newsletter

Sherman/Denison, Texas

November 2007

We would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you all had
a good turkey day.

Sorry this newsletter is very late because of due too much things
going on at the same time.

At our Social Night, Awards Banquet, we met new faces and 30 people
attended the banquet. We served food and drink for everyone. It was
very good food. We gave the certificate of appreciation awards to the
specific board and members for working hard to support TCD.

We had sign language class with approximately 5 students for 16 weeks
and they enjoy learning sign language. They seem so enthused and want
to learn more new words. We continue teaching sign language class on
Mondays and Thursdays. It benefits the students to be more social
with deaf or hard of hearing, to enjoy conversation through sign
language and builds their confidence when some of them are ready to
go to college to take courses for interpreting levels. We will have
another sign language class coming soon.

We would to like thank Sams Club for donating the money to help us.
Thanks, Sams Club.

Deborah and Shelia worked hard to get more gift certificates for our
Christmas party. Thanks to Deborah and Shelia.

On the weekend, we sold a lot of raffles at Wal-Mart. We would like
to thank Wal-Mart for letting us to use their location.

We welcome our new board trustee Kurt Polcyn.

Also we made new plans for 2008 events. We want to share a few events
coming that may want to make arrangements to attend. The holiday is
approaching so fast. We will be hosting a Christmas party on December
8th at 7 p.m. at the Sherman Elk lodge in Sherman. We will be having a
buffet dinner. People of any age are welcome with families to the
Christmas Party. Cash Bar will be open. We will sell the raffle
tickets for $5.00 for the cash prize and $1.00 for door prizes at the
door during the events. Hope you can come and have fun.
