Hi all,
My name is Bradley and I work in the programming office of the Alamo
Drafthouse Cinema, specifically the new Alamo Ritz Theater located at
320 E. 6th Street 78701- in what used to be the ‘Ritz’ nightclub.
As you may now be aware, Paul Thomas Anderson’s THERE WILL BE BLOOD
has received more Oscar nominations than any other film this year-
including Best Picture. The film, by most accounts, is a masterpiece.
You may also be aware that one of the stars of the film is a resident
of Austin. Russell Harvard, an alum of the Texas School for the Deaf,
plays H.W. Plainview as a young man, the son of the film’s lead
character, Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis, who also received a
nomination for Best Actor). Harvard as enjoyed critical success with
his talents as an actor both on stage and in television- THERE WILL
BE BLOOD marks his first major break into the film industry.
On February 4th and February 6th, at 8:30PM at the Alamo Ritz, we
will be presenting THERE WILL BE BLOOD with open captions. Mr.
Harvard will be in attendance and conduct a Q&A via an interpreter
after each show.
The studio will not provide a captioned version of THERE WILL BE
BLOOD, so we have transcribed the film ourselves. To our knowledge,
we are the only theater presenting this unique opportunity to enjoy
one of the year’s most acclaimed films, and to have Mr. Harvard live
in person to discuss his involvement with the film is truly a great
honor.
Your support in helping to spread the word about these screenings
will be much appreciated. The film is rated R and features some
intense brutality, so please keep this in mind if you choose to post
this event. However, those who can and want to see this amazing film
will not be disappointed.

Thank you and all the best,
Bradley Parrett
