Critical Thinking Skills for Interpreters
Working in the Video Venue
Taught by Rico Peterson this workshop will cover both historical and
practical aspects of moral philosophy and decision making with a
strong focus on work in video relay interpreting. The workshop
culminates with the introduction and application of Think-Aloud
Protocols as a tool for critical thinking both collaboratively and on
an individual basis. Participants will:
” Demonstrate, by participation in a Think-Aloud Protocol activity,
the ability to synthesize theoretical knowledge with practical
ability in decision-making and ethical reasoning in video relay
interpreting
” Be familiarized with the current issues in video interpreting
” Inquire into the current state of their ability and develop
strategies for improving their skills
Cost: Interpreters: $20.00, Students: $10.00, Sorenson VRS
