2009 ADARA Conference – Harnessing the Future

April 15-19, 2009, San Antonio, Texas

Invitation

The American Deafness and Rehabilitation Association (ADARA) invites
proposals for its conference in San Antonio, Texas for April 15-19,
2009. ADARA’s mission is to facilitate excellence in human service
delivery with individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This is
accomplished by:

Enhancing the professional competencies of the membership;

Expanding opportunities for networking among ADARA colleagues; and

Supporting positive public policies for individuals who are Deaf or
Hard of Hearing.

The 2009 Conference will have three (3) tracks: Rehabilitation/Low
Functioning, Mental Health/Chemical Dependency and
Transition/Independent Living. Proposals focusing on these tracks will
be given priority.

Deadline

A completed program proposal must be emailed by July 14, 2008. The
email should contain an attachment which includes: presentation title,
name(s) and information of presenter(s) with coordinating presenter
listed first, presentation abstract, presentation learning objectives,
presentation summary, presentation description, compensation package
requested, A/V needs, communication mode of presentation, interpreting
needs and anticipated audience. All proposals will be considered
understanding budgetary constraints may limit choices – proposals
with sponsorships identified are truly appreciated (see www.adara.org
for Conference sponsorship opportunities). Conference presenters are
also strongly encouraged to submit an article for publication in the
conference proceedings.

The conference will open on April 15, 2009 with several a one day
pre-conference opportunities. Pre-conference training’s will be
scheduled for either half day or all day time slots. Conference
breakout sessions during the full conference (April 16 – 19) will be
scheduled for 90 minutes but back to back sessions will be considered
to create 3-hour training opportunities for more in-depth learning
outcomes. In addition, poster sessions will provide the opportunity
for presenters to interact more closely with conference participants
and to showcase best practices or program models without doing a
formal presentation.

The conference offers an opportunity to bring a variety of
professionals together including vocational rehabilitation counselors,
mental health professionals, licensed professional counselors,
independent living service providers, educators, transition
specialists, and community-based rehabilitation providers. When
developing your proposals, please keep the needs and interests of
these groups in mind.

Presentation Proposal

Deadline for Submitting Conference Proposals is July 14, 2008.
