Students from the Texas School for the Deaf are ready to take on a
favorite summer pastime.
Park rangers and sheriff’s deputies were on hand to give them a
lesson in how to cast, hook and reel in some slippery fish.
But, the students were learning more than just how to fish.
An interpreter helped John Serrano describe the mission.
“The topic this year is go green in our studies — conservation and
enjoying our environment. It’s great to come here to go fishing
because the wildlife area,” Serrano, Texas School for the Deaf,
said.
“We’re studying the wildlife here. We’re enjoying our studies here,
and when we come here, we’re learning everything at the same time –
fishing and conservation,” he said.
The day was part of the Texas School for the Deaf’s Summer Elementary
School Program.
