SWCID REUNION 2010

Sorry for the delay in this newsletter report. Christine and Lisa
were very busy getting things ready and we still talking about
yearbook, t-shirt, SWCID activities, and other stuff to do.
We would like to announce that we have already sent an email to the
Provost of SWCID last week or two weeks ago (early week of August) . I
would like to say thank you to Christine Kamal and Renee Bartsch for
helping me out with the Provost’s letter. Also the Provost is coming
back to the school campus in Big Spring, Texas since he was on the
East Coast.
On August 26, 2008, Mark Myers the Provost from SWCID finally called
on the videophone to Christine Kamal that evening, and he said he is
eager to be involved and has approved for us to use the SWCID building
for SWCID REUNION 2010 in the summer time. That’s really great news!
Please be prepared to start saving your money for airline tickets, car
rental, hotels/motels, beverage/foods, and other stuff.
Mark the Provost told Christine that he is expecting a lot of people
to come to Big Spring, Texas for the summer 2010 more than 500 people.
Lisa want to show everyone that if you want to have or do you want to
show our best recorded history of SWCID Reunion in 2010. Come and
Support. Lisa wants everyone to come and hopefully that dream will
come true with more than a 1000 people or so.
Christine and Lisa are working on the SWCID REUNION yearbook. Lisa
has been talking to many different companies and found several
companies that offered some cheap prices with 500 pages. It is not as
bad as it sounds. Lisa has not yet decided which of those companies we
should choose. She is still looking for a yearbook company. Christine
is looking for special software programs for her computer. Christine
and Lisa are still discussing more details for the yearbook plans.
There is a lot of work to do. We have plenty time to do that until
2010. Hopefully it will look good.
Lisa will be looking at some stores about T-shirts. Some people said
that they want to have sewing (embroidery) than print (paint). The
print (paint) won’t last long because it will fade out later. The
sewing (embroidery) will last longer. Remember the sewing (embroidery)
price is a little more expensive. It is on depend on you if you can
afford to buy expensive shirt with sewing. If they want sewing, we
will have Polo shirts not T-shirt. I will have both polo shirt with
sewing and print with T-shirt just in case.
Please send your old pictures from SWCID since 1980. We will take
care of it. Please do not send me your orginial (first real) photos
because the pictures will not return to you. Please send us a ” copy
“of your photos. The photos will kept in the draft yearbook to be sent
to the yearbook company for printing. When you send us your “copied”
photos, please write in the back of your photo the names of the
persons or people who appear in the photos and what kind of activities
it was or where the photo was taken and what year. Best suggestion
that you type a label and stick it on the back of the photo. If you
want your photos to be in the yearbook, then we suggest you hurry and
make copies and send them to us so that they can be in the yearbook,
if you miss out to send us your photos then too bad! Lisa wants
everyone to have the best looking yearbook for everyone, so that we
all can have good memories of SWCID.
Please send your re-print photos before May 31, 2009.Christine and
Lisa will work on the yearbook to avoid “unfinish” business yearbook.
We want to finish the yearbook once SWCID Reunion is done in 2010,
which will involve taking new pictures to be added to the unfinished
yearbook.
Christine and Lisa already received the listed of student that was
1980 to 1990. Lisa has counted and there were more than 600 people on
the list.. She will email them again that we want to have the list
from 1980 to present. Sounds like the count that must be over one
thousand names since. Remember we can not promise that everyone will
come or not.
Two more things that need to be brought to attention. We need your
help with the logo for the front cover of the yearbook and T-shirt.
Pease help before December 31, 2008. We will pick the best logo by
popular votes, for yearbook and T-shirt, we will send you a winner’s
gift. We have not yet decided on the prize. We will have a surprise
prize for the winner. Maybe there will have two different winner’s
gift for yearbook logo and tshirt logo. Who knows?
We need your help to vote on which dates do you prefer to come in Big
Spring, Texas on July 2010:
1. July 8 to 11, 2010
2. July 15 – 18, 2010
3. July 22 – 25, 2010
*** Polo Shirts -We would like to know what color everyone wants to
have for the Polo Shirts with embroidery ( sewing). What color do you
suggest? Please give us your feed back as soon as possible. For
example Dark Hunter Green Polo Shirt with gold embroidery letters
sewed on to Polo Shirt etc.
*** Raffles – We would like to ask what everyone wants to see for the
raffle drawings, for example like : TV ? Cameras ? Laptop? DVD Player?
Wii Games? or whatever? We would like your feedback as well. Please
let us know so that we can prepare the raffles tickets and also sell
door prizes they will be different from raffle tickets.
We need your help to know what events or activities that you would
like to see? Do you want to see or meet famous person. For examples,
Ken Davis, deaf newspaper, — or Joel from Deaf Nation, or Mark
Morales from Deaf Aztec or else. Let me know. I can contact them if
they can come or not. We will announce as soon as we can.
We ( Lisa and Christine ) will come to Big Spring, Texas to meet some
staff to discuss about July 2010. We need some volunteer to help us
for the weekend when the SWCID Reunion takes place in 2010.. We have
many issues to do for SWCID Reunion.
If you would like to help us, and be involved with the SWCID Reunion,
we welcome your help. We need your help as feedback, suggestions, new
ideas and comments. We would love to hear from you and we are thankful
for all your help and feedbacks.
